Prerequisites: Attend the CEC morning sessions on Monday and Wednesday morning concerning radiation shielding. Participants to bring laptops or calculators to do the exercises
Workshop Description:
The workshop will explain in detail the considerations needed for adequate radiation shielding for a therapy facility and a diagnostic facility. There will be hands-on exercises where the faculty presents room diagram, coupled with some information and the participants calculate the shielding necessary. The solutions will be discussed in details and participants are encouraged to present their data.
Learning Objectives:
The special considerations and input data for shielding a therapy room using a linear accelerator as an example.
The special consideration and the required input data for shielding a diagnostic room using a PET/CT machine as an example.
