Workshop Description:

The purpose of this workshop is to bring attendees up-to-date with the latest information and developments in the field of radiation medicine. The workshop examines the operational and professional structure of services in radiation medicine. The "show and tell" presentations lead by expert instructors in the clinic or laboratory of each modality will provide an overview of physical layout, instrumentation, and daily workflow. The workshop will also focus on career paths in radiation medicine in a holistic approach to employment that emphasizes the interrelationships and importance of one modality or service to another. This workshop will assist individuals interested in radiation medicine or those who recently enter the profession broaden their understanding of the discipline and the scope of its services by observing the actual practice. In addition, we will make reference to the didactic course that is similarly titled to build on its lectures and reinforce the learning process.

Learning Objectives:

This workshop is designed to help you . . .

  1. Recognize the various services and modalities of radiation medicine from operational setup to instrumentation and personnel.
  2. Distinguish between the capabilities and limitations of each modality.
  3. Recognize each modality from its clinical setup.
  4. Identify and discuss the roles of clinical radiation workers in each service/modality.
  5. Explore career options and upward mobility prospects in radiation medicine.
