Course Description:

This course will explore various aspects of managing radiology referrals. It will be conducted by a well-known international speaker, Professor Lluís Donoso Bach, who is the immediate president of ESR. He is directly involved with the development of ESR iGuide.

The day will focus on introducing the concept of “appropriateness criteria” to manage radiology referrals. The course aims at introducing the well-known concept of appropriateness criteria for all radiology referrals and educating referring clinicians and hospital administrators.   

Who Should Attend:

Radiologists, Technologists, Medical Physicists, Radiology and PACS Administrators, Physicians, and people who work in regulatory agencies.

Learning Objectives:

    • Understand the purpose and the terminology of the appropriateness criteria
    • Educate referring physicians, radiologists and radiology staff on ways to reduce the number of inappropriate outpatient radiology referrals
    • Discuss means to reduce the average waiting time for imaging modalities
    • Discuss ways to reduce total outpatient radiological marginal costs
    • Familiarize delegates with the ACR and other appropriateness criteria guidelines and relevant software packages
