Target Audience :
Radiologists
Technologists
Radiology Residents and Fellows
Prerequisites: Knows basics of US and competent in the basic anatomy
Workshop Description:
MSK ultrasound has evolved to become the standard diagnostic and guide therapeutic procedures for much musculoskeletal pathology due to the ease of use and readily availability.
This MSK ultrasound workshop will expand the participant knowledge and competence to perform and/or interpret musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations, incorporate protocols and scan techniques to improve diagnostic & treatment accuracy. The workshop is conducted by leading MSK ultrasound expert and includes preceding introduction lectures and live scanning of models for a realistic experience.
Learning Objectives:
Increase the participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret MSK ultrasound examinations.
List the indications, benefits, and limitations of MSK ultrasound for sports medicine injuries, physical medicine & rehabilitation, and rheumatology applications.
Demonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system optimization to produce diagnostic images.
Demonstrate scanning protocols for performing wrist, hand, ankle and foot ultrasound examinations.
Identify normal anatomy during musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.
Identify the sonographic appearance of commonly seen pathology of the wrist hand, ankle and foot.
Demonstrate the use of MSK sonography for diagnosis and ultrasound-guided interventions and describe “in-plane” and “out of plane” injection/aspiration techniques.
Increase confidence to incorporate protocols, techniques & interpretation criteria to improve diagnostic/treatment accuracy.
