Workshop Description:
To introduce interventional procedures that helps to palliate patients’ symptoms or may bridge the patient to the road of cure. This includes gastrointestinal stenting and Pleurex tunneled drainage catheter.
Gastrointestinal stenting is important to relieve obstruction in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and colon. It can cover esophageal postoperative leaks. We will demonstrate types and techniques for doing so, including methods to overcome difficult procedures.
The Pleurex system is a tunneled pleural or ascetic drainage catheter for management of chronic recurrent malignant pleural effusion and ascites, therefore reducing infection rates. Procedural techniques will be explained including our deviation from original company recommendation to reduce complication.
