Course Description:
Radiation Safety Refresher Course is designed to provide the technical and practical information needed to improve the knowledge of the attendees and prepare a person to be an effective radiation safety officer. It will also be useful as general introductory training for anyone who works with radioactive materials or who may be required to be an alternate radiation safety officer.
The course is structured in lectures and practical sessions, both of them focusing on practical issues related to radiation protection practices. Some prior knowledge of algebra and science is necessary to get the most benefit from the course.
In this radiation safety Refresher course, you will explore the characteristics of ionizing radiation, develop an understanding of the units of radiation dose and quantities, gain hands-on experience using radiation detection instrumentation, and learn about the biological hazards of exposure to radiation.
Learning Objectives:
Acquire the knowledge on basic concepts and principles of ionizing radiation and its instrumentation
Gain a clear understanding, skill and attitude on radiation protection practice
Understand fully the national and international standards and regulations on radiation protection
